The paintings of Vincent van Gogh are some of the most recognizable pieces of art in the world. Something in them seems to touch the heart of most people. Vincent’s life story, however, is just as alive and colorful as his paintings; and both reveal a unique vision and sensitivity into the world that extends beyond the normal human spectrum—further out into the light, and deeper yet into the darkness.
Live music, media & story are used to create a compelling look into the driving forces in the life of Vincent van Gogh.
Though we are all the richer because of his art, how well do we know his life story—the joys and the disappointments he endured, those things which played such an important factor in the creation of his art?
In a unique and entertaining form of storytelling, Common Ground Seattle chronicles the fated attempt of this pastor-turned-painter at coming to terms with his own faith, his art and the social alienation he suffered in relation to his own family, the church and the artistic conventions of his day.
One must love with a lofty and serious intimate sympathy, with strength, with intelligence; and one must always try to know deeper, better and more. That leads to God, that leads to unwavering faith.

Each ticket to the Van Gogh to Mondrian exhibit carries an electronically printed entrance-time, to ensure an adequate flow of attendance for quality viewing. Because of the exhibit’s popularity, waits may be long — consider buying your exhibit tickets just before the program, seeing the show while you wait, then visiting the exhibit afterward.

Common Ground Seattle was officially started in 2001 by a group of people wanting to explore their faith in vital interaction with the art and story of our current culture.
Expanding the parameters of traditional worship, Common Ground — as a Christian community — seeks to grow in its awareness of God in the world. Contemporary film, media, popular music and story are creatively employed to open our hearts to God in ways that transform our lives from the inside-out, and draw us into more meaningful relationships with each other and with God.
